John qualified from The City University in London in 1989 and completed his pre-registration year at the Institute of Optometry incorporating experience at Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital and Guys Hospital. He moved to Somerset in 1990 and gained further experience in a small group of practices in Somerset and Bristol. He became the owner-practitioner at Silverthornes in 1994 and has held positions at both Southampton Eye Unit and Salisbury Eye Clinic as a paediatric optometrist.

Laurence joined Silverthornes Opticians in 1991 as an apprentice Optical Technician and in 1996 qualified as a Dispensing Optician.

He has been a Partner since 2008.

During his time with Silverthornes Opticians, Laurence has glazed and fitted in excess of 35,000 pairs of glasses.
