Optomap Retinal Imaging
Our premium and enhanced eye examinations include Optomap, an advanced, non-invasive diagnostic tool that uses laser technology to capture a 2D superior high resolution digital image, providing an ultra-widefield view of the retina.
The Procedure
Optomap is painless, non-invasive, and takes less than a minute per eye. You will be directed to look into the machine, one eye at a time, and see a quick flash of light. Low-powered red and green laser wavelengths create a detailed, multi-layered image of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium.
The Benefits
Because the Optomap captures 82% of the retina, compared to a maximum of 15% using traditional methods, it provides a superior, immediate, and high-resolution view of the retina's periphery. Optomap helps identify early signs of systemic issues such as diabetes and hypertension and eye diseases such as retinal tears/detachments, glaucoma and macular degeneration, without the need for dilating eye drops.
